Welcome to Street Smart Business

I consider myself a Street Smart Businessman. Starting my career in the military, I learned to be a leader and the value of organization, planning and discipline as a West Point cadet and Army officer after graduation. My duty was pretty cush with my first assignment as a graduate assistant football coach, followed by Rotary Wing Flight School and Hawaii as my 4 year duty station. I got out of the military upon leaving Hawaii thinking it could only go down hill from there. The army was a different place back then compared to today. We trained not really thinking we would ever go to war. Now you wouldn't consider going to West Point unless you were prepared and committed to go to war upon graduation. I have a lot of pride and admiration for our soldiers today and maybe if the times were different I would still be in and fighting the good fight. My daughter is seriously considering attending USMA which would be in only 18 short months.
Back to business...I left the military and joined a large company as a sales engineer for a California company selling to the defense industry. My products were electrical interconnect and microelectronics selling to companies like General Dynamics.
I left that company after 2 years and joined a small company selling dump truck and refuse truck tarping systems. I stayed with that company for 10 years moving up the ladder from Sales Manager to General Manager to VP and COO. We grew that company from $6MM to $25MM while I was there.
I then decided to leave that company and start my own business selling similar truck product in the UK. I developed many of my own products and built a nice business of $1MM in sales working mostly on my own.
We moved to Hawaii from Florida in 2005 and I continued my business in the UK from here. I buy from China, consolidate product in the US, ship by container to the UK, have a supplier in the UK who warehouses, fabricates, assembles and ships to my customers for me. I have no employees and get along very well using my experience and technology to my advantage.
Along the way I became a Certified Professional Behavior Analyst so I am also a consultant/coach for business executives and small business owners and managers using my online behavioral assessment as a tool for people to understand their behavior traits, values and talents and gain the most from themselves and others with this understanding and wisdom.
I look forward to sharing with you my personal and business experiences, and various areas of expertise I have learned through formal education, self education, and the education from the school of hard knocks that have helped me to become Street Smart in Business.
